Legal · Cancellations & Refunds
Weddings change. Dates move, guest counts adjust, and occasionally a couple must call the whole thing off. This Policy explains how cancellations, postponements, and refunds work on Brides Venues — what is refundable, what isn’t, and how to request a change.
Applicable jurisdictions
United States · European Economic Area (GDPR) · United Kingdom · Indonesia (UU PDP)
This Policy applies to bookings made through the Brides Venues platform. It complements (and does not override) any direct cancellation terms agreed between you and the venue or vendor in a separate signed contract. Where the two conflict, the more favourable terms to the couple apply unless local law provides otherwise.
The refund you receive depends on how far in advance you cancel, measured from the wedding date (the “Event Date”).
| Notice period | Refund of deposit | Refund of final payment |
|---|---|---|
| More than 180 days before Event Date | 100% refund (minus payment-processor fees) | Not yet collected |
| 91–180 days before | 50% refund | Not yet collected |
| 31–90 days before | Forfeit | Not yet collected; if collected, 50% refund |
| 0–30 days before | Forfeit | Forfeit (venue has likely incurred costs) |
To request a cancellation, open the booking from your bookings and choose “Cancel booking”, or email concierge@bridesvenues.com. We will acknowledge within one (1) business day and confirm the refund amount within five (5) business days.
Where possible we encourage postponement rather than cancellation. If the venue can accommodate a new date within twelve (12) months of the original Event Date:
If the new date is more than twelve (12) months out, or if the venue cannot accommodate it, the cancellation table above applies.
If a venue or vendor cancels on you, you receive a full refund of every payment you have made through the platform, regardless of how close to the Event Date the cancellation occurs. Where possible, the Brides Venues concierge will propose at least three alternative venues or vendors of equivalent standard, with priority handling and any rush fees waived.
Events outside reasonable control — including natural disasters, government-imposed travel restrictions, pandemics, armed conflict, or the death or serious illness of an immediate family member of the couple — are treated under our Force Majeure regime rather than the ordinary cancellation table.
Under Force Majeure:
Host and Vendor subscriptions (Starter / Professional / Enterprise) are billed in advance and renew automatically. You may cancel renewal at any time from Settings → Billing; you will continue to have access until the end of the paid period and will not be charged again.
We do not provide prorated refunds for the unused portion of a paid period, except where required by applicable consumer law (for example, the EU 14-day right of withdrawal for first-time subscribers).
Refunds are issued to the original payment method. Processing times vary by payment method and issuing bank, but typically arrive within:
Where a payment-processor fee is non-recoverable (typically 2–3% of the refunded amount), we will disclose the exact deduction when we confirm the refund.
If you disagree with the refund decision, write to disputes@bridesvenues.com. We escalate to our independent disputes panel, which reviews the booking history, the messages exchanged, and any supporting evidence, and issues a written decision within fourteen (14) days.
Initiating a chargeback before completing the disputes process relieves Brides Venues of any obligation to issue an additional refund and may result in suspension of your account.
Nothing in this Policy excludes or limits your statutory consumer rights under EU, UK, or Indonesian consumer law. In particular, the 14-day right of withdrawal for distance contracts under the EU Consumer Rights Directive may apply to first-time digital subscriptions; it does not apply to bespoke event bookings tied to a specific date once the venue has begun preparing for the event.
