Taman Bhagawan is a private 1.8-hectare beachfront estate on Tanjung Benoa, Nusa Dua, with a 150-year-old Javanese teak joglo, water gardens and a Main Lawn that seats up to 750. It sells a wedding two ways: the estate on its own (The Canvas — bring your own suppliers), or one of three catered packages by Vivre, the estate's in-house caterer, priced by guest count and season.

Every rate is inclusive of 21% government tax and service. The catered packages include the venue fee and the banjar permit; peak season runs March to October and off-peak November to February. Prices are for the Classic Bar — the Signature and Ultimate bars add a fixed sum per guest.

The rules that cost money

Tax, service and what is included. All rates include 21% government tax and service. The Classic, Signature and Ultimate packages include the venue fee and the banjar permit (IDR 5,500,000 an event day).
Event organiser. Every event is run by an approved event organiser; without one, a planning & coordination fee of IDR 12,000,000 applies.
Deposit and security deposit. A 30% deposit confirms the booking once the event agreement is signed. A refundable security deposit of 10% of the total is returned within 14 days of the event if the venue is undamaged.
Music and fireworks. Amplified music ends at 23:00, at no more than 75 dB at the perimeter. Fireworks need a banjar permit (IDR 3,750,000), with a 21:00 curfew.
Setup days and power. One additional preparation day is IDR 60,000,000; any further day is charged as a full rental day, IDR 120,000,000. A generator set for event equipment is arranged by the event organiser.
Drinks. BYO alcohol is allowed with corkage of IDR 302,500 per opened bottle, with legal import stickers. Bar hours can be extended per guest, and children over 12 are charged a non-alcoholic beverage package.
The beach and the nightclub. Use of the public beach in front of the estate is IDR 2,000,000, with security. The on-site nightclub can be rented for an after-party from 23:00 to 03:00 for IDR 18,300,000.

When to marry at Taman Bhagawan

April to October is dry. Nusa Dua's reef-sheltered bay stays calm and swimmable in almost every month, which is why it carries large guest lists so well. Because Bali lies just south of the equator, the sun sets within the same hour all year: at Tanjung Benoa, at about 6:05 pm at its earliest (May and June) and 6:45 pm at its latest (January and February).

Nine to twelve months in peak season. Resort ballrooms and beachfront lawns here are the island's main capacity for weddings above 200 guests.

Dry, clear and not yet at peak crowd or peak rate. Our most-recommended window for an open-air ceremony in Bali.

Sunsets are calculated for the 15th of each month (local clock, summer time where it applies) and move a few minutes either side across the month. Golden-hour vows start about an hour and a quarter before sunset.

Marrying legally in Indonesia

Indonesian law recognises religious marriage only. There is no civil marriage in Indonesia. A legal wedding requires both partners to share one of the six state-recognised religions — Islam, Protestantism, Catholicism, Hinduism, Buddhism or Confucianism — and to marry under its rites, with the marriage then registered at the civil registry office.
Which is why most international couples marry symbolically. A symbolic ceremony at the villa or resort — celebrant, vows, rings, sand or water ritual — is the standard choice and is what nearly every Bali wedding photograph you have seen actually is. Getting around. Flat, walkable resort grounds and wide access roads. The easiest part of Bali for guests with limited mobility, prams or wheelchairs
Guest accommodation. Bali's largest concentration of full-service resorts, most within a few minutes of each other — the simplest area for a hundred-plus guest list

Marry between November and February. The same Classic package for 100 is IDR 126,000,000 off-peak against IDR 156,000,000 in peak season.
Price your real headcount. The packages are priced at 50, 100, 200 and 300 guests; additional guests are charged per person (from IDR 905,000 on Classic).
Choose the bar by the guest. The Signature bar adds IDR 450,000 a guest and the Ultimate IDR 800,000 — at 200 guests that is IDR 90,000,000 or IDR 160,000,000.
Bring an approved organiser. It saves the IDR 12,000,000 coordination fee, and they arrange the generator the estate requires.
