A wedding at Château de Villette starts at EUR 28,750 for the château alone — a one-day event for up to 100 guests, without accommodation — and EUR 34,500 for up to 200. With the six suites of the Main Château, a day and a night is EUR 51,750, two days EUR 86,250 and three days EUR 120,750, each with one event included. Every figure here is our current 2026–2027 rate for the château, on the estate's own terms; the estimator below prices your own day.
Château de Villette wedding cost at a glance
The 17th-century château outside Paris rents as a whole, by the event. No rental includes catering, flowers, lighting or furniture — they come from the estate's approved suppliers — and a refundable security deposit is held on top. The château's price list states VAT only on its shoot rate (EUR 8,050, VAT included); any VAT on the rentals is shown in your quotation.

The 85-guest line, and the Glasshouse
A seated dinner inside the château is comfortable for up to 85 guests. Above that, the château's own answer is the Glasshouse, which seats 200. It is not in any rental and the estate quotes it separately, so it is the first line to settle: the guest list decides whether it is in the budget at all.
Every rental takes up to 200 guests at the event, except the lightest one-day rental, which is for up to 100; the 200-guest one-day rental costs EUR 5,750 more. Events for more than 200 are possible at an extra charge, with a higher deposit.
What a rental opens — and what it doesn't
- The suites and salons. Event access excludes the suites and the salons — the Music Salon, the Dining Salons and the Bibliothèque. They can be opened on request, at an extra charge.
- Getting ready on a one-day rental. One bedroom in the Wing is included; extra bedrooms or a suite for getting ready are at an extra charge. The rental runs from 10am, with the estate released by 8.30am the next morning.
- Staying the night. The rentals with accommodation include the six double suites of the Main Château, for up to 12 guests. Five rooms in the Wing, three lofts in the Chemistry building and a single suite in the Main Château take the house to 29, at an extra charge.
- One event included. The rentals with accommodation include one event — the wedding itself. A welcome dinner or a brunch on site is a further event; ask us to price it before you plan one.
- The timings. A day and a night runs from a 3pm check-in to an 11am release the next day; the two- and three-day rentals from 10am on the first day to 9pm on the last.
When to marry at Château de Villette
May, June and September are the château months — long evenings, full gardens, and reception rooms that carry the day if the weather turns. Summer time keeps the evenings long: on 15 June the sun sets at about 10:00 pm, so golden-hour vows begin around 8:30 pm; by mid-September sunset is at about 8:10 pm.

Château gardens at their fullest and evenings long enough for an outdoor dinner. The most requested weeks in the Île-de-France.
- Sunset · the château
- ≈ 9:25 pm
- Golden-hour vows

Sunsets are calculated for the 15th of each month (local clock, summer time where it applies) and move a few minutes either side across the month. Golden-hour vows start about an hour and a quarter before sunset.
The deposit and the rules that cost money
- Security deposit. EUR 40,000 on the rentals with accommodation; from EUR 20,000 on the one-day rental for up to 100 guests and from EUR 25,000 for up to 200. It is returned after the wedding if there is no damage, and it sits outside every total on this page.
- Services the estate requires. Power hub access (wiring not included) and a toilet attendant at every event, plus security and trash disposal and cleaning, which local rules require — booked through the estate, at your expense.
- Approved suppliers only. Catering and bar, flowers, rentals, draping, lighting and sound, fireworks and marquees come from the estate's approved list; using anyone else carries significant penalties. Musicians are recommended, not required.
- Music and late hours. Outdoor music ends at 11pm and the afterparty at midnight; each hour after that is EUR 5,750. Kitchen access for the caterer is at an extra charge, on request.
- Smoking. Never inside — a penalty from EUR 10,000 applies — and only in authorised areas outside. Smoke machines are not allowed at the afterparty.
What is quoted separately
Nothing below is in a rental. Each line is priced for your date from the estate's approved suppliers, and your concierge brings them into one quotation.
For scale: at Villa Balbiano, the collection's Lake Como estate, whose approved list shares several of the same caterers and most of the same florists, the 2027 quotes we hold for a 50-guest, three-day weekend put catering at about EUR 31,000 to EUR 49,000 and flowers at EUR 41,250 to EUR 154,000, before VAT. They are a guide to the size of these lines, not a price for this estate — we quote its suppliers for your date.
| Line | How it is priced |
|---|---|
| Catering and bar | Per guest, by menu and service, from the approved caterers |
| Flowers and floral design | By design — the widest-ranging line in an estate budget |
| The Glasshouse | By the estate, when dinner is for more than 85 |
| Lighting, sound and draping | By production plan |
| Furniture and table styling | Piece by piece, or as a full design |

Elopements and photo shoots at Château de Villette
For two, the château rents without the event. An elopement with a night in one suite — the Blue or the Green Suite — is EUR 23,000, from a 3pm check-in to an 11am checkout. A pre-wedding shoot, commercial shoot or elopement without accommodation, for up to two hours and up to 10 people including vendors, is EUR 8,050 with VAT included, and extra time is EUR 3,450 an hour. No services are included; the deposit is from EUR 15,000 for the elopement and from EUR 5,000 for the shoot.
Marrying legally in France
- France does not offer a practical legal route to non-residents. Only a civil ceremony at a French mairie is legally binding, and one partner must have lived in that commune for at least 30 continuous days before the banns are published. For couples flying in, that residency rule is the whole story — it is why almost no destination wedding in France is a legal one.
- So the French day is the celebration, not the registration. The overwhelming norm is to complete the legal marriage at home — a registry office appointment, often weeks earlier and with two witnesses — and to hold the ceremony that matters at the château or bastide. Your celebrant can run a full ceremony with vows, readings and rings.
- Religious ceremonies follow the civil one. A French church will not marry you until the civil marriage exists. If a religious ceremony in France matters to you, raise it with the venue early — it changes the running order and sometimes the dates available.
- Check your own country's recognition rules. Because the French ceremony is symbolic, the legal marriage is governed entirely by where you registered it. Confirm with your own registrar that the arrangement is what you think it is.
Getting to Château de Villette
- Airports. Charles de Gaulle (CDG) and Orly (ORY), both with global connections
- To the châteaux. Most estates in the Île-de-France sit 45–75 minutes from central Paris by road
- By rail. Eurostar and TGV make Paris the easiest arrival in Europe for a UK or continental guest list
- Worth planning. Guests will want a night or two in the city. Build the wedding into a weekend rather than a single day
How to keep a Château de Villette wedding in budget
- Stay at 85 or fewer. Dinner stays inside the château and the Glasshouse never enters the budget.
- Match the rental to the guest list. Up to 100 guests, the lightest one-day rental is EUR 28,750; the 200-guest version is EUR 5,750 more.
- Count the hours after midnight. Each is EUR 5,750; a party that ends at midnight adds nothing.
- Price the second event both ways. The rentals with accommodation include one event. Before planning a welcome dinner on site, price it against a dinner in Paris the night before.
Château de Villette beside the other Heritage Collection estates
Château de Villette belongs to The Heritage Collection, with Villa Balbiano on Lake Como and Villa Astor in Sorrento. The approved-supplier rule, the refundable deposits and the required event services work the same way at all three; what changes is the room for dinner.
